Moonlight Communications Wins 2nd Carraway Award

September 21 2008

Jan Johnson & Pat Wright, founding partners of Moonlight Communications, recently received their second Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina. Each year, twelve Carraway awards are given to individuals and organizations across the state who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to promoting historic preservation.

Moonlight was presented with the award for their production of After the Dust Settles, a documentary film that addresses the dual issues of teardowns and historic preservation. The documentary has also been picked up by the National Trust and is included in their “Teardowns Toolkit on the Web,” a resource for communities fighting against unregulated development.

Earlier in the year, both the documentary and the trailer for the documentary were honored with a Telly Award for excellence in video production as well.

In 2003 the duo won their first Carraway Award for the restoration and historic preservation of their building at 221/223 Hay Street.
